The Associates of Brand Library & Art Center (as the organization is now known) will celebrate 50 years with several events highlighting the group’s role in developing the Brand into a significant regional resource.

A public event called “Party Like It’s 1969” will be held on Oct. 4, with a commemorative $5 per-person donation to enter the retro-1960s celebration — 1960s-style clothing is optional.

In an email, Arlene Vidor, president of Brand Associates, wrote, “We’ll have music of that era, and it’ll just be a fun and free-wheeling evening at Brand, appreciating what a jewel of a cultural landmark we are so fortunate to have in Glendale.”

The 50th Anniversary of the Brand Associates as an organization will be celebrated throughout the year to highlight the organization’s contributions over the decades to develop the Brand into one of the region’s most significant cultural resources.  Throughout the year, information about the history and accomplishments of the Brand Associates will be presented at the Brand Library as well as other selected public locations.

On October 4, 1969, the newly formed Brand Associates celebrated their formation and the opening of the new “Art Center” wing with a formal gala event with ticket price at $5.  This year, on Friday, October 4, 2019, Brand Associates will invite the public to “Party Like It’s 1969” asking for a commemorative $5 donation to enter the retro-60s celebration.

There will be many other events throughout the year, including the acclaimed Annual National Juried Exhibition of Works on Paper in September.  Since its inception in 1971, the show has hosted a roster of distinguished jurors and the works of artists from across the country. This year, Brand 47 will continue those traditions, with Alma Ruiz, former senior curator at MOCA,  as exhibition juror.
