PLAZA SERIES: Holy Crow Jazz Band

Holy Crow Jazz Band is a Los Angeles (formerly NYC) based ensemble that performs traditional American jazz and blues circa 1900-1930. The band is led by Mario J. Maggio (clarinet and tenor sax) and Jessy Carolina (washboard and vocals) and features trumpet, trombone, guitar/banjo, and tuba. Holy Crow’s repertoire includes many popular and obscure songs from artists like King Oliver, Bessie Smith, Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, Jabbo Smith and features wild horn solos and powerhouse vocals by the phenomenal Jessy Carolina.
