The Brand Associates endeavors to make possible and support a rich array of cultural, arts, and educational programming at the iconic Brand Library & Art Center.
The accomplishment of our goals is made possible through the generous yearly membership contributions in the organization, active fundraising, and engagement of our entire community via outreach and volunteerism.
We aspire to present and support an array of inclusive, diverse and free events such as music, dance, visual arts, film, special events, and talks as well as various childrens’ programs. Our organization was founded in 1969 and has grown in its support of Brand Library (with its significant holdings that focus on music and books on the arts), and the gallery and recital spaces. We aspire to continue growing the depth and diversity of programming at Brand.
The MAKE IT hands-on crafts program for all ages gives participants a chance to express themselves! Each program is limited to 25 participants. All programs are Saturday mornings from 10:30 AM – Noon in the Brand Library Courtyard.
The Music Series occurs in the winter-spring timeframe and features renown, award-winning professionals performing a variety of classical music compositions, including the works of living composers.
The internationally acclaimed Dance Series includes original works performed by Southern California’s top dance ensembles. The works are often site specific and performed to interact with the unique architecture or exhibitions inside and outside of the library. They include works of contemporary or cultural themes and showcase inventive choreography.
REEL ART offers limited release films that speak directly to and about the arts in unique ways. Guest speakers, often the director or someone with expertise on the film, will take questions after the screening. These screenings offer an opportunity for viewers to disconnect from their daily streaming devices to experience film in a smaller setting with lively discussion. Films are offered periodically throughout the year.
Tours are offered two Saturdays a month at 9:30 am. Expert docents provide a compelling glimpse of the fascinating lives of the original owners Leslie and Louise Brand and the distinctive architectural details and features of this historic facility.
The Brand Library and Art Center offers the public compelling visual experiences in one of the most stunning gallery settings in southern California. The Associates help support four-to-six exhibitions each year, including a nationally renowned annual juried show with prominent jurors including artists, museum curators, gallerists, art critics, etc. All exhibits are curated and presented to enlighten and enrich people’s lives through art.
The Summer Plaza Series is presented outdoors on Friday evenings from June through August. This relaxed, open-air venue includes an exciting and eclectic array of performances from rock, to jazz, to folk, to world music, and other musical genre. Visitors often spend these evenings sitting on their blankets, enjoying a picnic dinner with the company of friends and family while listening to the musical performances.
Brand Associates occasionally gather to explore the arts community outside the Brand Library and Art Center. These unique field trips combine our members’ professional affiliations and our members sense of exploration and curiosity, allowing for personal tours to such venues as the Norton Simon Museum and the Marciano Arts Foundation. Art Wanderings are no cost to Brand Associates members and special donors exclusively as an additional way to thank our supporters for their ongoing financial contributions to the organization.
Brand Associates is looking for volunteers to assist with events and organization support.
